Asian Stocks Edge Higher In Tentative Rebound

Asian shares rose broadly on Tuesday after plunging in the previous session on concerns about a Greek debt default. Investors seemed to believe that Greece’s debt crisis would only have a relatively small impact across emerging markets, even if Greeks vote against the EU’s bailout proposals in Sunday’s referendum that could decide the country’s fate in the euro zone. Overall contagion effects are expected to be limited as Greece accounts for less than 2 percent of the euro-area economy.
