German consumer sentiment is on the rise again. The GfK consumer climate index for Germany came in at 9.8 points in April. Sentiment in the nation is clearly enjoying tailwind again in April, noted GfK. For May, the sentiment is expected to rise considerably to 10.2 points. Economic and income expectations have also risen considerably.
German consumers are confident that the nation economy will be heading in the right direction in the months ahead, as indicated by the marked rise in economic expectations. The rising economic optimism and moderate rise in prices signify that the income prospects have risen even further. The propensity to purchase has also risen by about five points.
Following a brief fall in February, consumers in the country are positive again about their economic prospects. The index rose for the second straight time, rising by a considerable 12.4 points to reach 30.5. This is the highest value in nearly two years.
