Automobile production in Japan declined for the twelfth consecutive month in June, figures from the Japan Automobile Manufactures Association showed Thursday.
Production volume of vehicles fell 5.3 percent year-over-year, or by 45,551 units to 811,864 units in June.
Domestic automobile demand also declined 2.2 percent to 442,631 units in June.
Meanwhile, automobile exports increased annually in June after falling in the previous month. It rose 3.3 percent to 403,730 units.
Motorcycle production stood at 34,973 units in June, down by 21.6 percent from the preceding year. Similarly, motorcycle exports decreased by 18.3 percent to 25,354 units in June.
During the first six months of the year, total automobile production contracted by 8.2 percent to 4,650,840 units compared with the 5,066,276 units in the corresponding period last year. However, automobile exports rose by 0.5 percent to 2,177,637 units.
