For that purpose, the company has launched a special new chicken bucket to commemorate the event. The memorabilia bucket is not just a cardboard cutout but a Bluetooth photo printer. That means it can interface with the user’s phone, as well as, print pictures of his or her choice.
Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM)’s KFC indicated in the blog in Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) page that the memorabilia will not available in large numbers. The chicken bucket will be given only as a limited release. The company’s obsession with chicken is a well-known fact with the name itself indicating it. Therefore, releasing a chicken bucket is not a surprise to anyone, be it customers or otherwise.
It is not going to be the first time that KFC is using the chicken. Its Japanese section enjoyed with a chicken-themed keyboard, USB stick, and mouse apart from 3D-printed earrings set. That was done during the last fall season as part of a promotion in social media. Similarly, Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM)’s KFC German outpost presented its customers a thin but rechargeable Bluetooth keyboard rather than giving the usual grease-sopping paper sheet.
Beyond Physical Products
Celebrations of major events or anniversaries are nothing new for any retailers, be it food or otherwise. But the process appeared to be quite different in several cases. Yum! Brands, Inc. (NYSE:YUM)’s KFC is experimenting that goes beyond the physical products section. A customer could play ColonelQuest if he or she could spare even a minute during the lunch.
The present day technology offers smart dishwashers, as well as, NFC-powered oven. Therefore, it remains to be as to how far the chicken bucket will be useful. None-the-less, the memorabilia has raised the bar.
